movement

a visual language brought to life through sound and motion.

Sometimes capturing a video feels like a dance. As you move from one side of the room to the other, you begin to match the rhythm of the scene around you. Your eyes lock on details: expressions, gestures, clothing. You step forward to film your subject. They move, you follow. Sometimes this movement feels like an unconscious impulse. Sometime it feels very intentional. This year, I wished to create more video work; I have always found video an immersive and visually enriching medium.

I created this video during a video module this year, and have included it as part of my learning process; in this module, we focused on basic video storytelling - filming and editing.

Contribution: promotional video for non-profit organisation, Bright Start

In this project, I was involved in planning and organising the groundwork for a promotional video for Bright Start. Alongside my team member Carlie Sutcliffe, I conceptualised the angle and tone, scripted the video, formulated the story structure and shots, worked out filming logistics, prepared the interview questions and selected clips for editing.

Due to shifting schedules, we have been unable to finish filming the video, however, we plan to continue filming in the first week of December.

Profile Video, Nolda van Geuns

This video is about my 100 year-old grandmother, Nolda van Geuns. It serves as an exploration of and testament to my grandmother and also seeks to document her experience of lockdown.
