Portraits
This year I aspired to take more portraits; portraiture was an area of photography I had not explored much before, and I wished to practise this skill. During this process, I learnt to pay attention to the direction of light on a person's face, their facial expression and the composition of the frame.
Nolda van Geuns, 100 years old.
A series of photographs taken during the first time I visited my grandmother, Nolda van Geuns, after months of lockdown. Even after being isolated for so long, my grandmother laughs and smiles easily. Her positivity is inspiring.
Photos of Friends.
During a photography module at the beginning of my course this year, I photographed a few of my friends one Sunday afternoon. I wanted to practise a technique called, Rembrandt lighting, and used the lighting streaming through the bathroom window to help me. From left to right, Saskia van Geuns, Shana Ellapa and Marelise Faul.
