Howden
May 2023 - Dec 2024
Communications intern (6 months), Corporate Communications Specialist (1 year)
-
Howden is a leading global insurance intermediary group, offering insurance broking, risk managemnet and underwriting services.
-
As part of Howden's Employee Engagement team, I created content to strengthen culture, connect colleagues and leaders, support internal communications, and educate employees. This included everything from daily updates to larger campaigns that celebrated employees, sparked discussions, explored the role of insurance in climate resilience, and boosted engagement through competitions and events.
-
I produced copy, video, photography, and design assets for internal and external use, sharpening my skills in research, storyboarding, creative problem-solving, and business literacy.
-
A highlight of my time at Howden was collaborating with media agency Big Button on the film ‘Harry and the FSO Safer’ which won Gold in the ‘Best Documentary’ category at EVCOM London Film Awards.
External Communications:

These stories range from videos spotlighting one of Howden's most impactful global initiatives, to stories on Howden's global inclusivity and diversity campaign (#AllofUs), their partnership with social enterprise Startup Sherpas, the annual Howden awards and a feature through the lens of DUAL's CEO (of DUAL Australia) on mental health awareness.

Internal Communications:

During my role, I chaired and recorded minutes for a global communications call, maintained a SharePoint hub and distributed assets to comms leads worldwide.
In addition, I captured event footage and supported campaign communications, including Howden's partnership with the British & Irish Lions.

Maastricht University
Research Assistant
Dec 2022 - April 2023
I collaborated with university lecturers across Europe on #dariahTeach, an open-source platform for digital arts and humanities education. I contributed to the course Social Justice in the Digital Humanities, which examines how digital humanists engage with social justice in both theory and practice.
As part of this work, I co-authored a case study on the project 'Walking the Archive of District Six' and helped produce two accompanying videos highlighting the project's creators and their approach.
Bright Start
September 2020 - December 2020
In the final year of my Bachelor's degree, I worked in a team to create a promotional video for Bright Start, a non-profit organisation in Cape Town, South Africa. Bright Start is centred on addressing inequality in education.
